About Univen Community Radio

A community voice broadcasting from the heart of the University of Venda since 1997.

UNIVEN Community Radio 99.8 FM is a community radio station at the University of Venda in Thohoyandou, Limpopo. Broadcasting from the Library Building on campus, the station serves Vhembe and Mopani district municipalities, Mutale local municipality, and communities north of the Kruger National Park.

Since its inception on 5 September 1997, Univen Community Radio has been a platform for community voices — covering politics, agriculture, sports, gender, education, entrepreneurship, religion, and youth development in the languages of its listeners: Tshivenda, English, Xitsonga, and Sepedi.

Now 29 years on air, the station is a skills development hub, providing hands-on training in programme production, presenting, news reading, and technical operations for students and community members.
